About The Merseyside Hospitality and Tourism Forum
The Hospitality and Toursim (HAT) forum operates within across all six boroughs of Greater Merseyside. Through our members we offer a range of training services to employers including:
- Apprenticeships
Appprenticeships give employers the tools to develop the types of skilled staff needed for the success of their business. HAT forum members offer Apprenticeships in many different aspects of the hospitality and tourism sector.
- Skillworks
The Skillworks programme allows Merseyside small and medium enterprises to access up to 60% funding for any training that will help develop their businesses. This programme can be accessed through the HAT forum. Email hat@skillsforums.com for further information.

- Train to Gain

- Short Courses
Forum member, Liverpool Community College, runs several short courses, some resulting in formal qualifications. They include BIIAB National Certificate for personal licence holders; door supervision; security operations; customer service; health and safety; manual handling; food hygiene and safety; leadership and management; first aid; internal verifiers award; assessors award and IT courses such as Excel, database, Powerpoint, Outlook e-mail, Publisher, word processing and ECDL.

There are also a range of bespoke courses for the Hospitality, Catering and Baking Industry. These include leadership and management courses covering motivational management; team building; kitchen management and design; restaurant management; training and development within an organisation; recruitment methodology and increasing profits.
Additional skills classes include chocolate work; larder and cold preparation work; sugar craft and confectionary; silver service; bar skills and service; cocktail making; sommelier training; New World wines training; ethnic cookery; menu compilation; healthy eating; international bread making; baking and confectionary; improving team building and motivation.
