The Annual Tourism Awards

Nomination forms are now available for the 2007 Mersey Partnership Annual Tourism Awards, spelling opportunities to recognise and reward instances of best tourism practice on Merseyside.  This now firmly established awards programme celebrates wide-ranging examples of outstanding customer service in the local tourism industry, underscoring their important contribution to the region’s global appeal.

Last year’s winners included Hope Street Hotel for Best Small Hotel, London Carriage Works for the Taste of Merseyside award and the Liverpool World Museum for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.

All the businesses nominated for these awards invest significant resources in staff training. This is vitally important to businesses whose success is directly dependent on their staff’s customer service skills. The Tourism Awards also point to the quality and dedication of training providers in the tourism sector. A strong example are HAT forum members, Vocational College. They provide training for the Fly in the Loaf public house who last year won Best Bar Award and whose employee, Kate Yates (pictured left with Les Dennis and Hazel Sarath) won Apprentice of the Year. This latter award reflects the winning combination of commitment from the Fly in the Loaf as employer, Kate’s hard work and dedication, and the ongoing support from Vocational College.

This year’s awards offer new opportunities for HAT forum members to have their work recognised through the nomination of their employers and trainees. For further details on this year’s awards and nomination forms visit the Mersey Partnership website.
